Luc Power
For Luc Power, music was never simply a hobby—it was the soundtrack to his life from the very beginning.
Born and raised in the coastal town of Rosslare, County Wexford, Luc grew up surrounded by a rich and eclectic mix of musical influences. His earliest memories are filled with the voices of artists as varied as Patsy Cline, Bob Marley and Nirvana, creating a musical landscape that was as broad as it was inspiring. From country classics and reggae rhythms to the raw energy of rock music, every sound helped shape the musician he would become.
Yet it was an unexpected encounter with Ireland’s musical heritage that would change everything.
While watching the film King of the Travellers, Luc was captivated by the powerful performance of the traditional song Óró, Sé do Bheatha ‘Bhaile. The song’s haunting beauty sparked a deeper exploration of Irish folk music and led him to discover the voice and legacy of Luke Kelly. What began as curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion.
Drawn to the honesty, emotion and storytelling at the heart of Irish folk music, Luc immersed himself in the songs and traditions that have inspired generations of musicians. He developed a reputation as a powerful and engaging performer, combining a deep respect for tradition with the energy and enthusiasm of a modern musician.
Today, Luc continues to share his love of Irish music with audiences across the UK and Ireland, bringing authenticity, passion and a genuine connection to every performance. Whether performing a much-loved ballad, leading a spirited singalong or introducing audiences to the rich heritage of Irish folk music, he approaches every song with the same sense of wonder that first inspired him as a young musician in Rosslare.
At his core, Luc remains a proud Wexford man whose musical journey serves as a reminder that sometimes the songs that shape our lives are the ones we least expect to find.
“Inspired by the voices of the past, shaped by the spirit of Wexford, and carrying Ireland’s songs to a new generation.”
